SachiniNews

+ Making your own NewsPaper is a really cool idea. I especially like the system with credits.
– Explanation on how to add articles is vague for the average user.
– A submit to newspaper button should be accompanied by a Cancel or Don’t submit button.

Siren

+ Take the same concept but replace it by an app inside facebook where you can listen to music in the rooms that your friends made, or some public rooms.
– The obvious (windows app)
– This music sharing seems illegal?

Anarchi

+ the use of badges is good to make the users come back
– UI has not changed much
– visually not very appealing

Team Geek

+ very consistent and beautiful look
+ great overall result
– very overloaded general timeline
– is there a big demand for old news?

Schi is the limit

+ nice introduction text at the login plus appealing logo
+ the core goal of this app is very well accomplished

Team Suchi

+ fun competitive game that keeps the users coming back for more
+ good use of the dummy when no real opponents are available
– levelling is good but there are no rewards for it (yet)
– slow response time

Chimera

+ underlying idea is good
– application feels very incomplete, no highscores for example
– basic and ugly interface

Chilli Peppers

+ fun game that doesn’t get old
+ the question categories
– automatic facebookpost on personal wall

Reworked report

leave a comment »

We were unsatisfied with the report we made on last iteration. We have taken the time to rewrite it, focussing on clarifying why we made certain decisions.

You can find it here: https://chileaders.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/report-chi.pdf

New websites support

with one comment

We are now also supporting articles from nu.nl, destandaard.be and HLN.be! Supporting some English websites is the next step!

Articles from HLN.be might still be buggy sometimes. For the first 3 websites (deredactie, sporza and cobra) we used the atom format of the website to get our content, but  for the newest 3 websites (nu, destandaard and hln) we are using regular expressions to extract the content of the articles, something which isn’t always safe to do…

Future websites that might get looked at: (source: http://www.ebizmba.com/articles/news-websites)

  • Yahoo! News
  • New York Times

Second iteration

leave a comment »

Our latest iteration is finally online!

Changes:

  • Our menu was pretty static (3 buttons: options, articles, add article)
    • This is now replaced with one button that changes depending on which task you’re performing.
      • Scrolling through the article list => Add Article
      • Adding an article => Articles
      • Doodling on an article => Articles
  • We added loading and saving screens when accessing/leaving an article.
  • Added a share on facebook button that saves a copy of the current doodle and allows people to view it without having to sign in. (they are unable to edit the copy that was shared)
  • The post-its aren’t anonymous anymore.
  • Articles get opened by clicking on them once. Instead of waiting for a double click.
What didn’t we change! And why.
  • We still allow people to erase other peoples content. Why?
    • If someone draws over the entire picture in an article it would be ruined forever.
    • If you care so much about your work you can just share it through facebook! It will make a permanent copy that way!
  • We didn’t reduce the number of colors that can be selected.
    • We did put a stroke around the letters that removed the problem of people drawing in the same color as the text.

Iteration report

The report can be found at:  report

This report is extensive but we absolutely want to make sure that we provide our readers with a full explanation on our progress. Leaving out some of the information would not give a full view on this.
If it is requested we can always provide a summary of our report but do note this might not give a full and clear image of our work.
